What kind of dangers are hidden in online purchases?
The FAIRCOMADR project of the Budapest Conciliation Board has set the goal of developing conscious consumer attitude of students. As the second step of the program, the students of the Budapest Technical Vocational Training Center Neumann János Informatics Technical School got acquainted with consumer rights and obligations as well as the jurisdiction of the Budapest Conciliation Board on 11 December 2024.
The lecture – that took place in the framework of a career-guidance institutional program – was given by dr. Csaba Geönczeöl, member of the Budapest Conciliation Board. During the interactive lecture the students filled in a consumer protection quiz together with the help of the Mentimeter application, which made possible for them to further deepen their knowledge acquired.
As a part of the program the students were given a Consumer Protection Booklet that calls attention to the dangers of online shopping and provide aid for them in making conscious consumer decisions. This booklet in printed format was made available for all participating students.
The goal of the FAIRCOMADR project is to explain basic principles of consumer protection to young people in an easy to understand way, and prepare them to acquire a conscious and rightful consumer attitude, especially focusing on the dangers arising during online purchases and service requests.
As a continuation of the program, the Budapest Conciliation Board intends to hold similar educational programs in further high schools to provide necessary information for as many students as possible.
