On 7 February 2025, Dr. Éva Farkas, lawyer, and member of the Budapest Conciliation Board gave a lecture on conscious consumer attitude at an event of the Rákosmenti Free University for Pensioners at the Vigyázó Sándor Cultural Centre in the 17th district. The objective of the lecture was protection of the rights of seniors especially focusing on how to deal with problems arising from everyday purchases.
The program was implemented in the framework of the EU project FAIRCOMADR titled “Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary (101146134 — SMP-CONS-2023-ADR I FAIRCOMADR). The objective of the program is to promote fair trade practices, and support protection of consumer rights especially in the group of seniors.
Related to this program the Budapest Conciliation Board has developed a Consumer Protection Booklet for the pensioners’ age group in which the most important information can be found about consumer rights and obligations and the dangers of shopping in detail. This booklet in printed format was presented to all the participants, so they can further deepen their knowledge and have access to all necessary information.
Participants at the event were given a Consumer Protection Booklet that would help them to access the most important information easily and be aware of their rights. The booklet provides aid in handling typical problems arising during everyday purchases and understanding legal options.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Rákosmente TV for their report on the event. You can view the detailed report and video of the event here.
A program nemcsak a fogyasztóvédelmi tájékoztatást szolgálta, hanem fontos lépést jelentett abba az irányba is, hogy a szépkorúak számára minél könnyebbé váljon a tudatos vásárlás és a jogi problémák kezelése. A jövőben is szeretnénk folytatni ezt a fontos munkát, és egyre több hasonló rendezvényt szervezni a szépkorú közönség számára.
