On 8 April 2025, the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Budapest Conciliation Board held the second meeting of the Business Working Group.

The aim of the group is to bring businesses into the discussion on consumer protection, highlight practical challenges, and put forward useful recommendations for decision-makers.

This meeting was organised under the EU-funded project “Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary (101146134 — SMP-CONS-2023-ADR I FAIRCOMADR)”.

Our guest was Dr. Norbert Farkas, Head of the Consumer Protection Department of the Budapest Government Office, who answered many questions from businesses. The discussion touched on when Hungarian-language user manuals are required, experiences with monitoring the price cap regulation, the rules on expert opinions, and when companies are obliged to prepare written records.

Other topics included: how businesses can meet their obligations when handling warranty and guarantee claims, requirements for experts and expert reports, the minimum value threshold for mandatory warranty, and how to calculate depreciation if a consumer withdraws from an online purchase within 14 days but has used the product beyond normal testing.

Thank you to all participating businesses for their active involvement!
