A Lecture on Consumer Protection in the Saint Anne Greek Catholic High School and Technical School
Dangers of Online Shopping
A priority goal of the FAIRCOMADR project is to educate high school students to acquire a conscious consumer attitude, especially focusing on the rising dangers during online purchases and service requests. The Budapest Conciliation Board launched this educational program on 27 November 2024, and gave a lecture for the students of the Saint Anne Greek Catholic High School and Technical School first. During the program, r. Beatrix Világos, lawyer, Head of Office of the Budapest Conciliation Board, gave a presentation on the activities of the Board and explained to the students their consumer rights as well as common problems with online purchases.
The lecture was held interactively, the students filled in a consumer protection quiz together with the help of the Mentimeter application. This made it possible for them to test theoretical information playfully in real time.

Related to this program the Budapest Conciliation Board has developed a Consumer Protection Booklet that presents the dangers of online shopping in more detail.
This booklet in printed format is available for all participating students, so they can further deepen their knowledge and have access to necessary information whenever they need it.
So, the goal of the lectures is to enable students to make conscious consumer decisions and to be able to recognize phenomena that may result in violation of their consumer rights especially in the online space.
