Conscious Consumer Behaviour Starts at School – Consumer Protection Education at Toldy

Consumer decisions and e-commerce situations are appearing in young people’s everyday lives at an increasingly early age – making it especially important that students receive clear, practical knowledge about their rights and available options already during their school years. With this in mind, on 4 December 2025 the Budapest Conciliation Board (BBT) held a consumer-protection educational session at the Toldy Ferenc Secondary School.

Consumer Protection Updates: Experiences and Challenges 2025

On 14 October 2025, the Budapest Conciliation Board (BBT) and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) jointly organised the professional conference “Consumer Protection Updates: Experiences and Challenges 2025”. The event invited key stakeholders of the consumer protection field to think together, with a particular focus on strengthening cooperation within Hungary’s alternative dispute resolution (ADR) network, supporting knowledge sharing, and fostering professional cohesion and a more consistent approach to practice.

Consumer Protection Programme for Seniors

On 2 October 2025, the Budapest Conciliation Board organised a consumer protection information programme for senior citizens at the Kondor Béla Community Centre. The event was implemented within the framework of the BBT’s EU-funded project entitled “Promoting Fair Commercial Practices through Alternative Dispute Resolution in Hungary (FAIRCOMADR)”.

Consumer protection session for senior citizens in District XVI

The Budapest Conciliation Board held an information session at the Municipal Social Services Centre in Budapest’s District XVI, as part of the FAIRCOMADR – “Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary” project, co-funded by the European Union. The event, held on 5 June 2025, aimed to strengthen consumer awareness and promote fair and transparent commercial behaviour through alternative dispute resolution tools.

Consumer protection in the classroom – conscious decisions at a young age

On 21 May 2025, the Budapest Conciliation Board met secondary school students once again, delivering an interactive consumer protection lecture to the pupils of ELTE Trefort Ágoston Grammar School within the framework of the FAIRCOMADR project (“Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary”).

Rethinking Consumer Experience – Service Design Workshops at the Budapest Conciliation Board

The Budapest Conciliation Board implemented a series of three interlinked workshops in 2024–2025 as part of the European Union project FAIRCOMADR – “Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary.” The consumer research carried out within the framework of the project aimed to improve conciliation as a service through the application of the service design methodology – a pioneering approach in the field of consumer protection in Hungary.

The Business Working Group – Second Meeting of the Year

On 8 April 2025, the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Budapest Conciliation Board held the second meeting of the Business Working Group.

The aim of the group is to bring businesses into the discussion on consumer protection, highlight practical challenges, and put forward useful recommendations for decision-makers.

This meeting was organised under the EU-funded project “Fostering the awareness of fair commercial practices through ADR tools within Hungary (101146134 — SMP-CONS-2023-ADR I FAIRCOMADR)”.

BCB X Auchan – World Day of Consumer Protection

On the occasion of the World Day we informed consumers on the role and jurisdiction of conciliation boards at three venues (Auchan Óbuda, Auchan Albertfalva - Savoya Park, Auchan Soroksár) in the framework of the FAIRCOMADR project.

During the events visitors could get information on their consumer rights and win several prizes by spinning a Wheel of Fortune and answering a quiz question on consumer protection.
